Good afternoon MVRHS community,
We are excited to release student schedules for the 2022-23 school year in PowerSchool. You can view the schedule in your PowerSchool account. For rising 10th -12th grade students, logging into PowerSchool should be quite familiar to you. For rising 9th graders, please refer to the letter and instructions you received via actual mail (not email) earlier this summer. If you did not receive the letter by mail, please email jmeader@mvyps.org.
A week or so ago, our Guidance department sent out grade specific emails to all students and families. All of these letters are also located on our website for easy reference. Please read these letters carefully! They are full of important information about the upcoming year, including details about the add/drop period.
The schedule is still subject to change, primarily regarding Homeroom/Mentor Meeting assignments, study halls, and room numbers. Please check back before the school year begins for the most updated information. The student grade level will not be accurate until the start of the year. Don’t worry! When September comes, your accurate grade level will be listed.
We can’t wait to see you all back here on September 6th (or on September 2nd for 9th graders). Enjoy the remainder of your summer, and reach out if you have questions or concerns. Please continue reading below for specific information about some classes.
There are a few important notes about the 2022-23 schedule.
- If you signed up for American Sign Language, you will receive a letter from the language department about the class. These classes will be taught via Zoom for live, remote instruction. We are really excited about this configuration, and it allows us to have an immersive language experience with a deaf instructor; however, it may not be for everyone. Please review the letter to learn more, and contact your guidance counselor if you wish to change classes.
- We have several Dual Enrollment courses with Cape Cod Community College and Bristol Community Colleges. Some of these courses will be taught by MVRHS teachers for high school AND college credit, and some will be taught via zoom by college professors.
- Marine Biology, in person by Mr. Hall
- Anatomy and Physiology, in person by Mr. Joyce
- English Composition 101 and 102, in person by Ms. Thibodeau
- Intro to Law and Law Enforcement, remote via Zoom
- General Psychology, remote via Zoom
- Introduction to Deaf Culture and ASL, remote via Zoom
- We have a different configuration for Drivers Education this year. After many years, the Vineyard Driving School decided to no longer offer classroom hours during our school day. After much research, we were able to contract with a driving school on the Cape to provide these hours for our students. These courses will be offered remotely, via Zoom, to our students during C period and F period. Vineyard Driving School will still provide the driving hours portion of drivers ed.
Enjoy the final few days of summer!
