ANNOUNCEMENTS:


Project Vine’s 7th Annual Island Lore Oct 27th
Project Vine presents the 7th Annual Island Lore Night ~ a historic storytelling competition to benefit Project Vine at the MV Museum on Friday evening, October 27th from 6–8 pm. FREE event. Awards and refreshments. All are welcome!

Winter Sports Registration
Any student-athlete who wishes to participate in a winter sport (hockey, basketball, indoor track, or swimming) MUST register on FamilyID Sports Registration. Registration will open on October 27th and remain open until November 20th. Add this date to your calendar. To ensure your student-athlete is eligible on day one of practice, please register early! More information here. 

Out at Home Open House
Join the Island Wide Youth Collaborative (IWYC) for an Open House on October 26th from 4-6 pm to learn more about Out at Home – a program providing individual, couples, and family therapy to LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, and parent coaching to LGBTQIA+ youth’s parents/guardians. More info here.

Shining a Light on Women’s Sports
On October 13th, MVRHS held its first official Women in Sports Day. Seniors Violet MacPhail and Georgia Magden guided a panel of women athletes and sports documentary producers in a discussion on women’s rights and modern-day sexism in the sports industry. In the afternoon, Kristine Lilly, retired member of the US Women’s National Soccer Team practiced with MVRHS Girls Soccer program, offering inspiration and speaking to students about her journey.

Felix Neck Field Trip
Last week, science teacher Anna Cotton took her Island Natural History class to Felix Neck to study various habitats (meadow, salt marsh, freshwater and brackish ponds). They identified and documented species using iNaturliast in the Martha’s VIneyard Atlas of Life. MVRHS teachers engage their students in a varsity of ways. Exploring the natural beauty of the island is something students will remember! Click here for more photos.

Registro de esportes de inverno
Qualquer aluno-atleta que deseje participar de um esporte de inverno (hóquei, basquete, pista coberta ou natação) DEVE se inscrever no FamilyID Sports Registration. As inscrições serão abertas em 27 de outubro e permanecerão abertas até 20 de novembro. Adicione essa data ao seu calendário. Para garantir que seu aluno-atleta seja elegível no primeiro dia de treino, inscreva-se com antecedência! Mais informações aqui. 

Casa Aberta Out at Home

Iluminando os esportes femininos
No dia 13 de outubro, a MVRHS realizou seu primeiro Dia Oficial das Mulheres no Esporte. As veteranas Violet MacPhail e Georgia Magden guiaram um painel de mulheres atletas e produtoras de documentários esportivos em uma discussão sobre os direitos das mulheres e o sexismo atual na indústria esportiva. À tarde, Kristine Lilly, membro aposentada da equipe nacional de futebol feminino dos EUA, treinou com o programa de futebol feminino da MVRHS, oferecendo inspiração e falando às alunas sobre sua jornada.

Viagem de campo a Felix Neck
Na semana passada, a professora de ciências Anna Cotton levou sua turma de História Natural da Ilha para Felix Neck para estudar vários habitats (prado, pântano salgado, lagoas de água doce e salobra). Eles identificaram e documentaram espécies usando o iNaturliast no Martha’s VIneyard Atlas of Life. Os professores da MVRHS envolvem seus alunos de várias maneiras.
