The MVRHS community is deeply saddened by the loss of Riley Ignacio-Cameron, a 2020 graduate of MVRHS. Riley was a beloved friend and student who will be sorely missed. We are grieving for the young lives lost and for their families. MVRHS adjustment counselors available for any students or alumni who want to come and speak or process the event.
Important Message from School Nurse
There has been a recent marked increase of influenza and RSV cases on the island and across the Commonwealth. If your child has cold or flu symptoms please initially test them for COVID-19 before they return to school and have them wear a mask while in the building. Also, please remember not to send your child to school with medication in their backpacks. Both over the counter and prescription medication should only be administered by the school nurse. If they need to take medication during the day for a cough/cold symptoms consider keeping them home from school.
Winter Jazz Fest this Friday!
Come out for the Winter Jazz Fest this Friday, Dec. 16, 6:30 pm at the Performing Arts Center – featuring MVRHS M.V. Big Band, M.V. Jazz Combo, Jeremy Berlin and Rose Guerin, Darby Patterson and the Jelly Roll Horns, and the Lucas Ostinato Trio! Tickets, $25, benefit MVRHS music program.
PowerSchool Mobile App Reinstallation
As a reminder, PowerSchool recently updated their application software. In order to access your PowerSchool account through the App, please follow these steps:
- Uninstall the PowerSchool Mobile App
- Open the App Store on your mobile device and search for “PowerSchool”. PowerSchool apps should be the first results that appear. Install the App.
- You will be promoted to enter a 4-digit district code. Our MVRHS code is LHWH.
Holiday Treat Bags for Staff
Parents/Guardians: Please help the PTSO wish our teachers and staff a wonderful holiday with holiday treat bags! The PTSO is asking families who are able to please donate a bag of individually wrapped candy, K cups for Keurig coffee machines, or Hot Cocoa. The leadership class will put all the treat bags together. Treats can be sent to school with your child OR dropped off during school hours at the front office. All treats need to be delivered by FRIDAY DECEMBER 16TH! Thank you for helping to make the holidays special for our teachers and staff! – MVRHS PTSO
School Picture Retakes/Make-ups
School Picture Retakes/Make-ups are scheduled for January 19th from 10am – 12pm in the PAC.
Updates from Student Government
Student Government will be selling candy cane grams during lunch period from December 12th to December 21st. Students can stop by the table in the lobby to buy a candy cane gram for $1 to be sent to friends and teachers!
Student Government will be hosting a toy drive to benefit Martha’s Vineyard Community Services Preschool from December 12th to December 16th. There will be a box in the lobby to drop off donations. Please be sure toys are new and unwrapped!
On December 23rd, the last day before winter recess, MVRHS will have an Ugly Holiday Sweater day! Wear your most festive, ugly attire!
NHL to Feature Vineyard Hockey!In preparation for the National Hockey League’s Winter Classic at Fenway Park on January 2nd between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins, a film crew from the NHL will be shooting a feature on the MVRHS boys ice hockey team, with a focus on winter on the Island. Keep a look out for more on this!
