re: Travel to Martha’s Vineyard
Thank you for agreeing to compete against us this year. We are scheduled to play you in _______________ on _________________ here on Martha’s Vineyard. As you can imagine, transportation to the Vineyard can be an adventure. This letter should hopefully help you with your transportation needs. We will make every attempt to accommodate you and your team’s needs.
When you travel to Martha’s Vineyard you will use the Steamship Authority to get here. You should call the group sales department, 508-548-5011 ext. 244 or 344, at least 48 hours before you are scheduled to arrive. They will give you a great rate which helps make the trip more affordable. Please communicate with me which boat you will be taking to ensure that you’re on-island transportation is timed accordingly.
Once you dock on the Island, we will take care of all your transportation needs while on the island. We will pick your team up at the dock and return them to the dock as soon as the contest is over. We will get you back on the earliest boat available after the game.
If there is room on the team bus your coach can decide if fans will be allowed on the bus to the school. However, team members, coaches and officials take priority on the team bus. Alternate transportation is available via www.vineyardtransit.com, Uber, or Taxi.
If you are interested is staying overnight on the island there are a few hotels that are open year round. Although we do not recommend any one hotel over the other, teams in the past have used: The Harbor View, The Edgar Inn, and Mansion House and are open year-round. They all accommodate teams, and we can assist in your transportation needs to and from the hotels to the school and boat.
Our athletic trainer is available for all contests and will supply your team with ice and water on your bench, so you need not bring coolers if you wish.
Thank you again for visiting us and if there is anything further, I can do to make your trip easier please don’t hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Mark McCarthy, ATC
