All are invited to join the next PTSO meeting. Read about our recent Garden Clean-up Day!
Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the Garden Clean-up Day on March 27th! We had about two dozen parents, students, and teachers all working together on creating a path to a new door that will be installed this spring, turning over the herb beds and the garden beds and mulching the space around them, working on picnic tables, and hauling materials into and out of the courtyard. There were several requests to do it again, so we will look at dates in early May!
And a special thanks to IGI Educator Colten McCracken and to student Ben Mulvey for helping to organize the event. Revitalizing the space is a focal project for the Leadership class students this spring, and the group is working to build a picnic table seating area with umbrellas on the lower end of the space, and an outdoor classroom with shade sails and seating on the higher end of the space. Later this spring, when the path is complete and the door is installed, students will be able to walk through the courtyard during passing periods, as the path will connect the science area to the math area. The hope is additionally to make the space more welcoming for classes to use as well, and to help teachers and students connect with our Island Grown Schools program. Stay tuned for an additional day in early May!
We will have our third meeting on Thursday, April 8th, from 6:00-6:45 pm on Zoom.
Agenda: planning teacher appreciation day on Tuesday, May 4th
- We can look at what the students are currently working on – plants and notes
- We will choose which activities we would like to do – food, decorations, possible drawing for gift cards
- We hope to set up a plan and a schedule for getting donations and for organizing the day
Hoping to see you at our zoom meeting! A zoom link for that meeting will be sent by email on Wednesday morning, April 7th. Sign up for our mailing list on the PTSO Webpage.
