In just about a week’s time, Project Vine, the Alternative Program at MVRHS, will be headed out to Penikese Island. Our annual retreat out there is an important piece of the experience in Project Vine that many graduates say literally changed their lives for the better. A current senior told us that “I might have never talked to some of those people like we did out there and now, they’re actually my friends.”
The trip involves a chartered boat ride out to the uninhabited island of Penikese in the Elizabeth Island chain. We bring all of our own supplies and have a guide from the old Penikese Island School. The kids spend 3 days with no electricity, no indoor plumbing, no screens but a whole lot of time together cooking, cleaning, doing team building activities and relaxing in an environment that is honestly otherworldly. We believe this trip changes lives and makes our whole community better because of it.
But it doesn’t happen for free: because we want all members to attend at least once, the trip is offered at no cost to our students, when in reality it should cost about $200 a piece. This is where Project Vine is looking for your support!
If you are willing to sponsor a student for our trip, we would be happy to add your name or business logo to this year’s Project Vine long-sleeved t-shirts (sample included below!) Once printed, you will also receive one of these stylish shirts of your own as our way of saying thank you.
Please contact Dani Charbonneau if you are interested in sponsoring, have any questions or wish to donate anonymously (we’d still like you to get a shirt)! Checks for sponsorship should be made out to “MVRHS.” Large logo sponsorship is $200, and single line of text sponsorship is $100.
Thank you!
