Welcome back to school everyone,
It has been a pleasure meeting so many of you, and reconnecting with so many others who I met throughout the interview process and over the summer. We are off to a great start! One of my commitments is to communicate directly with families through a monthly update. In this update, I will share quick notes on:
- Upcoming parent/community events or student activities,
- Reminders about expectations or upcoming deadlines, and
- Shout outs and celebrations of some great work going on in the community.
Please send along feedback or thoughts. I welcome the input!

Reminders
- There will be no school for students on Friday, October 7 due to an island-wide professional development day.
- Data verification: All families must submit the data verification form on line in order to participate in school field trips, sports, and some curricular activities. On Monday, October 3, we will review the eligibility of athletes if this process is not complete. Please refer to our earlier emails on the subject if you need instructions on how to complete the process.
- Progress reports will be available in the portal starting October 5. This is our first go around of making this report available to parents via the portal. We are optimistic and hopeful that it will go smoothly, but given some the issues with technology and the portal in the last few weeks, we are anticipating a few bumps in the road. Look out for emails around that time in the case we need to clarify some things. Thanks for your patience as we roll out some new technology systems, and please continue to give us constructive feedback.
- Cell phones: As most of you know, our policy here at MVRHS is that cell phones/personal devices are not allowed out during instructional blocks. This includes learning center time, and when a student is in the hallway or an office. Students may use their phones during specifically designated passing time and their assigned lunch period in the café. Thanks for your support and feel free to email me with questions.
Celebrations
We have had some successful events so far at school this September.
- Club Fair: This week, students were able to check out all the great clubs and extracurricular activities we offer. Ask your child what they plan to participate in this year!

Sara
