Vineyarder of the Week
Each week we will introduce a student or staff member to our entire school community!
This Week: Molly DeBettencourt, Senior Varsity Basketball Captain who has scored 1000 points during her career at MVRHS!
How long have you been playing basketball?
I have been playing basketball since 4th grade.
Why basketball?
I like how competitive the sport of basketball is, it’s a fun extracurricular activity!
When and where did you score your 1,000th point?
At our away game versus North Quincy on January 14th.
Can you describe the shot?
The shot was a 2 pointer. Two minutes into the game, from the right side, just inside the 3 point line and it went in… all net!
What is one thing you especially like about this year’s team?
One thing I like about our squad is that the team brings a lot of energy to the court when we play, and my fellow captains help bring constant encouragement.
Which of your basketball coaches has had the most impact on how you play?
Sterling Bishop (current Varsity coach) has definitely had the most impact on my basketball career. He’s very supportive when it comes to how I play, and encourages me to improve my skills and overall game each and every day.
Will you play in college?
I am not sure if I will continue, because it all depends on the school I attend and the level of play.
What colleges are you looking at?
If I want to continue playing basketball, my options are Emmanuel or Johnson and Wales, but if I decide I don’t want to play ball in college then Florida Gulf Coast might be the way to go.
What is something you are definitely going to miss about MVRHS basketball next year?
I am going to miss my teammates who I have been playing basketball with since I started– Kiana Casey, Lily Pigott, and Ashlee Moreis.
