Dear Freshman,
It’s hard to believe we have less than one week to go in the first quarter of the school year. In talking to many of you, you have expressed a similar sentiment. Where did the time go?
As you know, the first quarter ends Friday, November 3rd. Since this is the first time you have experienced grading at MVRHS, I wanted to highlight a few important points.
- Grades close November 3rd. After first quarter grades close, the PowerSchool portal closes while teachers calculate and submit their grades and the first quarter will not be visible to students and parents.
- Teachers submit and lock their first quarter grades on Friday, November 10th.
- Grades are then verified, and mistakes are rectified before grades are made visible to students and parents the week of November 13.
Each teacher handles the end of the quarter a little differently, so please communicate with your individual teachers if you have any questions about the process.
Congratulations on successfully completing your first quarter of high school. If you feel as if you are struggling, and need a little more academic support, please contact me in guidance at any time. Also, please know that we have an after school tutoring program (ACCESS) that is open to all students Monday-Friday. There are teachers from different disciplines (including math) who are available to help students with organization, academic skill development, and anything else you may need. Please send me an email if you would like more information.
Thanks,
Mr. Fiorito
