Insurance
MVRHS provides accident insurance for covered expenses for all enrolled students while at school, traveling to and from school, and at school-sponsored activities. In the event of injury to your child, please report the injury as soon as possible to the school nurse or athletic trainer (for sports related injuries) as there is a limitation on the time allowed to file a claim. The school nurse or athletic trainer will provide you with the claim form and information needed.
Injury Reporting
Because of the possibility of further injury to the student, all injuries must be reported to the school nurse and/or athletic trainer, as soon as possible. This can be done via email, phone call or in person. This is important to ensure that each student gets appropriate medical treatment and receives insurance forms within the 90 day limitation.
It is the discretion of the athletic trainer or school nurse to pull any student from physical education class or competitive sports because of an injury/illness. The athletic trainer or school nurse must clear a student to return to class/practice/competition.
Also, if a student has been referred to a physician (M.D.) for evaluation he/she may not participate in PE class/practice/competition until cleared by a physician (M.D.). This means that the student must bring a note from their physician (M.D.) to the athletic trainer or school nurse to be filed in his/her permanent record prior to returning to PE class/practice/competition. Chiropractors (D.C.)/Physical Therapists (P.T.) may only clear students that have been referred for chiropractic care/physical therapy and may not be used in place of a physicians (M.D.) evaluation.
