It has been a busy several weeks since MVRHS’ student run station has been on the air. The students meet with radio industry professionals Skip Finley and Bill Narkiewicz and faculty advisor Chris Connors Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
The station has been on the air since October, and can be heard at 105.5 FM. It is a Low Power FM (LPFM) license, and is best picked up in the car or close to MVRHS. Plans are underway to move the transmission antenna from atop the CTE section of the building to a higher location in Oak Bluffs.
At this time, the 24 hour programming is transitioning from an all reggae format with professional announcers to a mix of reggae and holiday music along with mostly student announcers. Student leaders are in the process of taking responsibility of the music mix and recording their voices to play between the songs.
Student on-air voices include: Miles Thornton (grade 12), Matt Delorenzo (grade 11) and Oshantay Waite (grade 11).
