Work Study Program

Learn. Earn. Prepare for Your Future.

The Work Study Program at MVRHS gives students the opportunity to gain real-world experience while earning academic credit. The program helps you to explore career options, build essential workplace habits, and strengthen teamwork & problem solving skills.

What is Work Study?

Work Study allows eligible juniors and seniors in good academic standing, with strong attendance and guidance approval to work during school hours in a supervised, approved position. Students may participate in jobs related to their CTE program, career interests, or general employment that supports skill-building and professional growth. It’s a real-world experience with real responsibilities, but also real rewards.

Benefits of Work Study:

  • Earn school credit while working
  • Develop valuable job skills and professional habits
  • Build a resume and get references for future employment or college
  • Explore career pathways before graduation
  • Gain confidence in real-world settings

What to Expect

You’ll work during your assigned blocks, and keep track of your hours – you’ll be expected to act professionally, show up on time, and do your best on the job. Throughout the semester, you’ll submit work logs to the Work Study Coordinator, complete a few short reflections or assignments, and get feedback from your employer.

How to Get Started:

  1. Talk to your guidance counselor or CTE teacher about your interest.
  2. Secure employment and complete the Work Study Packet applications.
  3. Meet with the Work Study Coordinator and submit required documents.
  4. Start working and earning credit toward graduation!
