Community Forum Tomorrow Night!
Please join us for a Community Forum on Wednesday, March 27th from 5:00 -7:15 pm in the MVRHS library. Food will be provided! The topic of this forum is True North – MVRHS Beliefs and Portrait of a Learner. Part of our focus this year has been in defining our True North; our shared beliefs that guide our work and decision–making. Staff and students have contributed to developing belief statements and definitions of learning, and we invite you to join us for a workshop style session as we look at our current core values and beliefs and identify the skills and dispositions that our graduates will need as they prepare for opportunities in their future.
Space Still Available! – 1st Annual Waylon Madison Sauer Basketball Tournament
There are still team spaces available for the 1st Annual Waylon Madison Sauer Basketball 3v3 Tournament Sunday, April 7th! Teams are guaranteed 3 games- starting at 10:00 am. The top 4 teams will make it to the semi- finals- starting at 11:30 am. and the final two teams will play the final at 12:15 pm. Staff/Students $50 team entry fee. Community $100 team entry fee. Sign your team up here!
Spring Job Fair April 3rd
The MVRHS Spring Jobs Fair will take place next Wednesday, April 3 11:30-2:05 in the MVRHS Gym. Students will have access to over 50 island businesses that are looking for Summer, Full and Part Time employees. Others have career opportunities. Meet Businesses Including: Island Alpaca, Vineyard Vines, Cranes Appliance, Harbor View Hotel, Atlantic House, Cape Cod Express, Bruno’s Rolloff, Donaroma’s and many more! If you’re looking for your first job or maybe you’re looking for a second job, this is the place to find it. Get your resume updated and be prepared to impress these local businesses that are looking for talented employees!
After School Access
Any students who need extra time and/or support with their school work are invited to join After School Access on (schedule below). Portuguese language support is available Monday, Thursday, and by request.
Chopped for Charity
On Friday evening, Project Vine held its seventh annual “Chopped for Charity” Event. Based on the tv show “Chopped,” our version has teams of students compete cooking ingredients commonly donated to food pantries to make creative, affordable dishes which are judged on their taste, presentation and gameplay, including creativity and teamwork displayed. The event raised over $400 for the Island Food Pantry! If you see any of the competitors or judges around, congratulate them on an amazing night!

Thanks to Tayla BenDavid for creating the Food Trivia to entertain the crowd during rounds, Hudson Riordon and Brett Regan for doing the dishes, Payton Polleys for collecting money at the door and Tashard Hutton for bringing water to the crowd and cooks!

Spend the summer working on the water!
The Lagoon Pond Association is again sponsoring a paid internship to work with both the Oak Bluffs and Tisbury Shellfish Departments. This year we are hiring 2 Interns, one to work with the Tisbury Shellfish and one to work with the Oak Bluffs Shellfish Department. This intern will assist in the day-to-day duties of the specific towns department, including, but not limited to, bay scallop, quahog and soft-shell clam propagation and stock enhancement. Other responsibilities will include assisting with phytoplankton sampling and identification as well as predator control in Lagoon Pond. Experience on the water and with boat operation is a plus, however, training for boat operation and other necessary equipment will be provided. Ever wondered what it takes to feed a community from seed to fork?
Island Grown Initiative (IGI) seeks applicants to participate in a paid, part time summer internship program. Interns will work hands-on in IGI’s farming and food equity programs to grow food and feed the community. This is a great opportunity to explore a future food-related career while giving back to the Island community. This internship program requires 90 hours of attendance in total over July and August. Fórum Comunitário 27 de março
Junte-se a nós para um Fórum Comunitário na quarta-feira, 27 de março, das 17h às 19h15, na biblioteca da MVRHS. O tópico deste formulário é o True North – Crenças da MVRHS e Retrato do Estudante. Parte do nosso foco este ano foi definir nosso True North; nossas crenças compartilhadas que orientam nosso trabalho e a tomada de decisões. Funcionários e alunos contribuíram para o desenvolvimento de declarações de crenças e definições de aprendizagem e convidamos você a se juntar a nós para uma sessão no estilo de workshop, enquanto analisamos nossos valores e crenças fundamentais atuais e identificamos as habilidades e disposições de que nossos formandos precisarão ao se prepararem para as oportunidades em seu futuro.
Estamos entusiasmados com a oportunidade de a comunidade fornecer feedback sobre as declarações de crenças e políticas escolares da MVRHS recém-elaboradas, bem como com a oportunidade de fornecer informações sobre o nosso retrato do estudante. Esse trabalho será compartilhado como parte do nosso credenciamento de 10 anos com a New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) e é liderado pelo Comitê Diretor da NEASC, Sara Dingledy, Justine DeOliveira e Spencer D’Agostino.
Nesse fórum, os membros do Conselho Consultivo Escolar (SAC) também compartilharão e conduzirão discussões sobre possíveis mudanças em nosso manual do aluno para o ano letivo de 24 a 25. A comida será servida! Se você quiser participar, envie um RSVP here.
Torneio de Basquete 3v3 Waylon Madison Sauer Memorial!
O Primeiro Torneio Anual de Basquete 3 x 3 Waylon Madison Sauer Memorial, organizado pela classe júnior da MVRHS, será realizado no domingo, 7 de abril, na MVRHS, das 10h às 12h30.
Acesso depois da escola
Todos os alunos que precisarem de tempo extra e/ou apoio em seus trabalhos escolares estão convidados a participar do After School Access (horário abaixo). O apoio em português está disponível às segundas e quintas-feiras e mediante solicitação.
Chopped for Charity
Na sexta-feira à noite, o Project Vine realizou seu sétimo evento anual “Chopped for Charity”. Baseado no programa de TV “Chopped”, nossa versão tem equipes de alunos competindo com ingredientes comumente doados a despensas de alimentos para fazer pratos criativos e acessíveis que são julgados por seu sabor, apresentação e jogabilidade, incluindo criatividade e trabalho em equipe. O evento arrecadou mais de US$ 400 para a Island Food Pantry! Se você vir algum dos competidores ou juízes por aí, parabenize-os pela noite incrível!

Passe o verão trabalhando na água!
A Lagoon Pond Association está novamente patrocinando um estágio remunerado para trabalhar com os departamentos de moluscos de Oak Bluffs e Tisbury. Este ano, estamos contratando dois estagiários, um para trabalhar com o departamento de mariscos de Tisbury e outro para trabalhar com o departamento de mariscos de Oak Bluffs. Esse estagiário ajudará nas tarefas cotidianas do departamento específico da cidade, incluindo, entre outras, a propagação e o aprimoramento do estoque de vieiras, quahog e moluscos de concha mole. Outras responsabilidades incluirão a assistência na amostragem e identificação de fitoplâncton, bem como o controle de predadores na Lagoon Pond. A experiência na água e na operação de barcos é uma vantagem; no entanto, será fornecido treinamento para a operação de barcos e outros equipamentos necessários. A Island Grown Initiative (IGI) busca candidatos para participar de um programa de estágio de verão remunerado e de meio período. Os estagiários trabalharão nos programas de agricultura e equidade alimentar da IGI para cultivar alimentos e alimentar a comunidade. Essa é uma ótima oportunidade para explorar uma futura carreira relacionada a alimentos e, ao mesmo tempo, retribuir à comunidade da ilha.
