Dear MVRHS Community,



I hope you all had a healthy, happy, and restful Thanksgiving break and that many of you were able to gather with your loved ones to celebrate. 



I am truly grateful to be surrounded by a dedicated team of caring and thoughtful educators and staff who share a desire to see every student at MVRHS thrive and succeed. I am thankful for my leadership team and their efforts to keep moving the school forward, for the partnerships we have with our families and within our community, and for all of the support and guidance offered to our students day in and day out.

December 10-11th

Minnesingers Winter Concert

Come out to support the Minnesingers at their Winter Concert performance! There will be two performances at the Old Whaling Church – the first on Friday, December 10th from 8-9:30 PM and the second on Saturday, December 11th from 4-5:30 PM. Purchase tickets at link below, at the door or directly from a Minnesinger.

December 14th

School Committee Public Hearing

The MVRHS School Committee will hold a public hearing to review the MVRHS proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2023 and to receive comments from the public regarding this proposed budget. The public hearing will take place on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 7:00PM via zoom.  Copies of the proposed budget will be available please contact Suzanne Cioffi at suzanne.cioffi@mvyps.org.

School Advisory Council

The School Advisory Council (SAC) meets Wednesday, December 15th at 4:00 pm in the Culinary Arts Dining Room. Participation is encouraged and all are welcome to attend!  Learn more.

December 16th

Vision of the Graduate

The MVRHS SAC (School Advisory Council) invites MVRHS parents and caregivers to the MVRHS Vision of the Graduate discussion on Thursday, December 16th, 2021 from 6-7:30 PM in the cafeteria. Conversations will be conducted in both English and Portuguese. Learn more.

January 3rd

Principal’s Coffee

Join Principal Dingledy for Principal’s Coffee on the first Monday of every academic month at 12:00 PM via Zoom. The goal of these gatherings is to facilitate connections and conversations that help us to work together to support MVRHS students in their learning and growth.

January 24th-28th

Mid Term Exams

Mid Term Exams take place Monday, January 24th – Thursday, January 27th with Make-up Exams on Friday, January 28th. All days are half days with a 12PM dismissal. View schedule and other important information.

Spotlight on Mental Health

MVRHS Mental Health Counselor

Q: You’ve stepped into a new role at MVRHS this year as Mental Health Counselor. Why do you think this role is important for the school community?



This new role is important because it provides students, particularly newcomers, with easy and quick access to mental health services when they may need it most.

Q: Do you have any advice/tips for supporting students’ Mental Health this fall and winter?



Getting sufficient quality sleep on a regular schedule, eating healthy meals, and exercising a few times a week are foundational habits for mental and emotional well-being. Additionally, connecting with and seeking support from friends, family, or mentors promotes feelings of joy and belonging, while keeping depression and loneliness at bay.



Q: What mental health resources are available outside of the school?



Martha’s Vineyard Community Services offers a variety of resources to support students and their families. The agency provides counseling services, crisis support, parent education programs, recovery coaching, and survivor advocacy. Services are confidential and oftentimes offered at no cost or on a sliding scale basis.
