MVRHS wins national recognition as Unified Champion School

This past summer Special Olympics recognized MVRHS as a Unified Champion School.

At the home game for Unified Basketball on Thursday, November 7th, we raised our national banner!

The letter of award from Special Olympics of Massachusetts reads:

Congratulations to Martha’s Vineyard High School for receiving National Banner recognition for meeting/achieving national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy and respect!  The athletes, partners, students, coaches, volunteers, teachers, staff and administration at Martha’s Vineyard have all played key roles in creating a social climate where everyone feels included and respected for who they are.   We are honored to have such a strong and fully inclusive school be recognized for the hard work and determination you have demonstrated to grow your program to the outstanding one it is today, and we look forward to new heights it will reach tomorrow and years to come!

MVRHS is one of only sixteen schools in Massachusetts and 179 schools nationwide to achieve this status for the 2018-19 school year.
