How many years have you been playing football?
I have played 7 years of tackle football.
How was the season from your point of view as captain?
It was a long season. It was challenging because we had to go into a game with only 20 players. For me, I had to stay positive because we were never favored to win. It was hard to motivate the team, but I am very proud of everyone and the work we all put in.
How does it feel to have your season cut short and to not play in the Nantucket game?
Ugh, heartbreaking. It was hard to hear. As a senior, we grow up playing this game and winning the cup. The team wanted revenge for last year and we were not given the opportunity to take them on. The news was hard to take. We worked our hardest during every game and felt like our opportunity was taken away. I don’t agree with the decision, but I respect it. We wanted to play, but wouldn’t have been safe.
How was the last game?
It was an emotional last game, but it was amazing that we won. It is the best feeling to go out with a win.
What is your favorite memory of playing MVRHS football?
During my sophomore season, we won the Island Cup 7-0 against Nantucket.
Are you playing MVRHS basketball this year?
I do not think I am. I don’t want to risk injury.
Will you miss MVRHS?
In general yes. I have built some good relationships and friends, but I’d like to move on. Sports-wise, I will miss the support from my community for sure.
What are you planning to study in college?
Probably education or athletic training.
Will you be playing football in college?
Yes, but I don’t know where yet. I’m looking at Utica, West New England, Morrisville, Westfield State, or Bridgewater State.
What are some other interests you have outside of school?
I like to fish and I’m into photography.
Anything else you want to say?
Thank you to all the coaches that sacrificed their personal time to work with us, and to the community that supported us throughout the season.
