Announcements: Week of 1/2, 2018

Flex: During Mentor Monday on Tuesday, January 2, mentors will schedule students for the next two weeks leading up to the week of midterms.
YEARBOOK DOODLE during FLEX on Tuesday! Do a Doodle For Yearbook! Make a doodle on a piece of paper and give it to your homeroom teacher! We’ll pick it up and do the rest!

Principal’s Coffee: There will be coffee with the Principal at 8:00 am on January 2nd, in the Culinary Dining Room.
SWEAR circles with Sophomores: Sophomores will be pulled into small group discussions on Wednesday, January 3rd. Please report to the PAC.

Tony Lombardi: There will be a gathering at Alex’s Place in the YMCA from 12-2pm on January 14th. Please join and celebrate the life of Tony Lombardi and all he did for the youth in our community.
Seniors – If you’re a senior and interested in doing a senior project for second semester, the deadline for submitting a proposal is Friday, January 5th. The proposal form is on the website above under Student Life.. Please talk to your guidance counselor too.

Guidance Office Information

Students/Parents:

Tuesday, Jan. 9th - Junior Parents/Student Night for post-secondary planning – 6:30-8:30pm in the Performing Arts Center (PAC).
Monday, January 22nd - The Program of Studies booklet will be available online (www.mvrhs.org) for parents and students to review prior to scheduling for next year.
Freshmen and Sophomores will start scheduling the week of Feb 5th.
Juniors will schedule in the PAC on Tuesday, Feb 13th during flex time 9:00- 9:40.
Tuesday, Feb. 20th – 8th grade parent meeting in the PAC 6:30-8:00pm.
Starting the week of March 19th, John Fiorito will be visiting each elementary school and will do the 8th grade individual course sign up.

Make your Senior Square for Yearbook during Flex Block

ANY FLEX BLOCK TUESDAY – FRIDAY through the month of February. Students can expect to spend about 2 Flex Block periods on making their square!

Peer Tutoring in Room 203 with Mr. Lavers TUESDAY through FRIDAY

Peer Tutoring with Mr. Lavers will be in Room 203 during FLEX time. Mr. Bonneau will be in Room 113.

**Sign up as usual for Mr. Lavers, but note the change in room**

Meditative Coloring- WEDNESDAYS, Jan. 3 and Jan. 10

Meditative Coloring is a great way to destress and relax, and it also helps to focus before studying. There will be a five minute introduction to the activity, a five minute time frame to pick a design then the rest of the period is used to work on your design. It is intended to be relaxing so there will be soft music playing in the background and students participating are expected to work silently.

Photo Contest with Mr. Baer & Mrs. Shoquist

THURSDAYS 1/4 and/or 1/11: To celebrate and honor the diversity of our community, a group of students, art department faculty, and administration are creating a space to display what makes our school and island special. Share your perspective on diversity by entering a photo into our first photo contest and you might win $100! We cannot make this hallway a positive and inspiring space without your participation so please get involved!

**For help with ideas, technical requirements, or any other questions about the contest, sign up for Mrs. Shoquist on January 4th or 11th!**
