The MVRHS Library serves the community by providing access to print and electronic resources for research and inquiry, tools for project creation, information literacy instruction, a collection of high quality and interest, and a variety of spaces for teaching and learning.
The Library also preserves and makes accessible documents and archives related to the memory of the school.
The Library is named after Gregory T. Scotten, a former MVRHS Principal.
Our Mission
The MVRHS Library embodies the core values of MVRHS and is critical to the success of all students. We aspire to inspire, guide, and teach students to become independent learners and agile problem-solvers who will thrive in a diverse, complex and rapidly-changing world. Students will appreciate the value of using libraries throughout their lives.
Physical Collection
The library offers books and DVDs that may be checked out for 3 weeks at a time and renewed as needed. Books are acquired according to interest and meeting classroom needs, with an emphasis on making accessible to students books of high interest to promote reading and literacy. One of the goals of the library is to foster and increase literacy and a love of reading amongst all in the community.
Find what you’re looking for in the library collection by using the catalog, also linked in the menu above.
Research Databases and Subscriptions
Research databases on a broad range of subjects in the form of ebooks, journals, magazines, newspapers, video, and audio are available for free and mostly without the need for passwords. Databases are funded by MVRHS and Massachusetts State Library System.
The library also provides research tools, such as Noodletools (for citations, notetaking, outlining, etc.), and Questia School (an online library of 94,000 books that includes notetaking and annotation tools).
The Future
