2017 Senior Project Presentations
Beautiful new table for the Courtyard!

We’d like to give a huge shout-out to Building Trades students Schmeichel Oliveira, Julio de Oliveira, and Hudson Simmons, who under the direction of Bill Seabourne, made this gorgeous table for the courtyard.
The table is almost entirely made from locally-sourced wood, courtesy of Tom Turner, making it carbon-neutral. The top is made of catalpa, and the legs are a combination of white oak, red oak, and mahogany.
Schmeichel designed the table, and built it with Julio and Hudson.
It will be available for use in the courtyard in the next few days.
Thank you Hudson, Julio, Schmeichel, and Bill!
Library Courtyard: an Outdoor Classroom

While the weather is nice, why not take advantage of the library courtyard? Have your class meet in this beautiful outdoor classroom! Thanks to the class of 2020 for helping to clean it up in November 2016, and for Project Vine for inaugurating the space.
Keep in mind that classes meet in rooms adjacent to the courtyard. Library rules apply. This outdoor learning space is for classes to use for reading, writing, discussing, and relaxing.

Poetry in place: Marcy 29th In-class assignment
“I’m pretty much all for poetry in public places – poetry on buses, poetry on subways, on billboards, on cereal boxes…my sense is, it’s a good thing to get poetry off the shelves and more into public life…. When you get a poem on a billboard or on the radio or on a cereal box or whatever, it happens to you so suddenly that you don’t have time to deploy your anti-poetry deflector shields that were installed in high school.” – Billy Collins
In that spirit, if you could pick any poem to display in a public place, what would it be?
Find a poem that you want people to read in a particular public place.
For today’s in-class assignment (Quiz Grade), fill out the form linked below (make sure to sign into your google docs account first)
