New UFO (Unidentified Found Object)
Ever found something and wondered “what the heck is this?” Here’s the latest UFO (Unidentified Found Object) that’s on display in the library.
This weeks UFO, pictured above, was found recently by MVRHS senior Grant Santos.
Take a look at it. Do some research. Ask around. Think you know what it is? Put your answer with your name in the “Say Something” box below. Whoever is the first to correctly identify (or at least offer the best explanation for) the object, wins the prize. Also, you will be invited to supply the next UFO. Good luck, aliens.
Aaron Teves: Summer Architecture Workshop in California
Aaron participated in California Polytechnic State University’s Summer Architecture Career Workshop, a four week program to explore the possibilities of architecture through higher education and into its profession. The concept of architecture was presented as more than just buildings drawn on paper, but as spaces created for a specific purpose. Various techniques were studied, such as use of materials, the manipulation of light and creating environments. Not only was the workshop a portfolio-building opportunity, but also a worthwhile bonding experience leaving students with lasting friendships.
Vote at the Voting Booth!
Here’s the new library voting booth. We just completed our first poll (results here). For the November elections we’re polling students and faculty on who they’d vote for, what they think of Question #2, and of course, the answer to the burning question, what is the best restaurant on MV? Stop by the voting booth and take the new poll, or (feel free to vote online)
Willa Vigneault: Experience in Jordan
Over the summer Willa went to Jordan through a program called NSLI-Y, funded by the US State Dept. She went to Amman for 6 weeks and went to school to learn Arabic, 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. On the weekends and after school she went on trips to Petra, the Dead Sea, Aqaba, and rode on Jeeps through the desert. She also worked to provide relief for Syrian refugees. She came back with her perspective completely changed.
