Slides Carnival is a whole bunch of really nice looking, free presentation templates for Google Slides or PowerPoint. As the site says: “These designs cover all styles from playful and creative to formal and business presentations, and all templates are easy-to-edit. Use them freely for your own presentation needs, work right away in Google Slides or download the templates as a PowerPoint PPT file and continue working on your computer.” All they ask is you give them credit.
Another great feature is the content of the templates. Each template contains around 25 different slides, all with beautiful images, backgrounds and icons, instructions, inspiration and ideas on how to use and adapt them.

Questia School: Your own Digital Library!
What is Questia School?
- It provides access to over 83,000 cross-curricular books from 1,000 of the world’s leading publishers, including Oxford University Press, McGraw-Hill, Cambridge University Press, and Elsevier.

Starting this school year, we have a subscription to a Massachusetts Statewide eBook initiative called Commonwealth eBooks. Using one search, Commonwealth eBooks gives you access to three eBook platforms.
Baker & Taylor’s Axis 360 includes many fiction and non-fiction bestsellers, and allows you to download full-length books to the eReader of your choice (for example, Kindle, phone or tablet – more on this below).
Biblioboard Library includes primary sources, historical documents, audio and video.

A Global Learning Commons for MVRHS
In 2013-2014, the MVRHS School Council called for a committee of “staff, students, parents, and community members” to “make recommendations for a newly designed 21st century library” by “visiting other high school and town libraries”, and “investigating the latest research recommendations for libraries”. The goal was to “make recommendations to the School Committee at the end of the school year”. (Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Improvement Plan: 2013-2014 Update) Upon completion of this work, the Committee recommended that a diverse range of learning spaces are a critical need for students and faculty at MVRHS. These formed the foundation of the design for the Global Learning Commons. We partnered with Fielding Nair International, a world-renowned educational design firm. Their design is here:
