Hello Juniors and Families!
The Guidance Department has a few updates for you!
SAT update: If you would like to take the SAT in March, the last day to register (with a late fee) is February 28th. Please log in to your College Board account (or create one if you haven’t already) and register for the SAT. You will have two more opportunities to take the SAT this spring, in May or June. You can also take the SAT in the fall of your senior year. If you are unsure whether or not you need to take the SAT, you can discuss this with your guidance counselor.
Junior Family Meetings: After the vacation, the counselors will start sending out invitations to juniors and their families for the Junior Meeting. This is an opportunity to meet individually with your guidance counselor to talk about your plans after high school. Invitations for the Junior Meetings will be sent to your student’s MVRHS gmail account. Students please keep a lookout for the invite, and start getting in the habit of checking your email! We will be scheduling the meetings in batches, and it takes several months to get through all of the meetings, so we thank you for your patience while you wait for your invite. The email will include instructions for how to pick your appointment time, and what items you need to complete before your meeting. If you have college visits planned and would like to request a meeting sooner than later, please reach out to your counselor after break.
What can you do in the meantime? Please refer to our Guidance and Counseling website, and look for the ‘Junior Post High School Planning’ tab on the right side. Please refer to the ‘Junior Year Timeline’ and the ‘Naviance Instructions for Juniors’. You should complete the tasks listed on the Naviance instructions prior to your meeting, and spend time exploring this valuable resource!
As always, please prioritize your academics first! The courses you take and the grades you receive are generally the most important factor for college admissions and career planning!

Reuniões para a Família dos Juniors: Após o intervalo de fevereiro, os conselheiros começarão a enviar convites aos juniores e suas famílias para marcar uma reunião. Esta é uma oportunidade de se encontrar individualmente com seu orientador educacional para falar sobre seus planos após o ensino médio. Os convites para as Junior Meetings serão enviados para a conta do gmail do MVRHS do seu aluno. Por favor, fique de olho no seu e-mail para o convite. Estaremos agendando as reuniões em lotes e leva vários meses para concluir todas as reuniões, por isso agradecemos sua paciência enquanto aguarda seu convite. O e-mail incluirá instruções sobre como escolher o horário do seu compromisso e quais itens você precisa concluir antes da reunião. Se você tem visitas à faculdade planejadas e gostaria de solicitar uma reunião mais cedo ou mais tarde, entre em contato com seu orientador após o intervalo.

Por favor, consulte a ‘Linha do Tempo do Ano Júnior’ e as ‘Instruções de Navegação para os Juniors. Você deve concluir as tarefas listadas nas instruções do Naviance antes de sua reunião e passar algum tempo explorando este valioso recurso!
Como sempre, priorize seus estudos primeiro! Os cursos que você faz e as notas que você recebe são geralmente o fator mais importante para a admissão na faculdade e planejamento de carreira!
