Summer Shellfish Intern

:The Lagoon Pond Association is again sponsoring a paid internship to work with both the Oak Bluffs and Tisbury Shellfish Departments. This intern will assist in the day to day duties of both departments, including, but not limited to, bay scallop, quahog and soft shell clam propagation and stock enhancement. Other responsibilities will include assisting with phytoplankton sampling and identification as well as predator control in Lagoon Pond.

Experience on the water and with boat operation is a plus, however, training for boat operation and other necessary equipment will be provided.

The start date is mid-late June and ending mid-late August.

We do accept applicants under 18 years old. Most important is an interest in environmental science and a desire to learn about the shellfish and the Lagoon Pond ecosystem

Intern will be expected to work 30 hrs per week and adhere to a written/signed agreement as to “work expectations”
