Work on the water this summer!
The Lagoon Pond Association is sponsoring 2 paid internships to work with both the Oak Bluffs and Tisbury Shellfish Departments and the LPA. This Intern will assist in the day-to-day duties of both departments, including, but not limited to, bay scallop, quahog and soft-shell clam propagation and stock enhancement.
Other responsibilities will include assisting with phytoplankton sampling and identification as well as predator control in Lagoon Pond.
Experience on the water and with boat operation is a plus, however, training for boat operation and other necessary equipment will be provided. The start date is mid-late June and ending mid-late August and the Intern will work 30 hours/week.
Minimum age: 16
Preferred days / hours: 30 hrs/week. mid-late June ending late Aug
It’s a great opportunity for anyone wanting to spend the summer “on the water” and wanting to learn about the ecosystem and marine biology.
