MVRHS celebrates and congratulates our students in their participation in the 22nd Annual Science and Engineering Fair.
Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) hosted its 22nd Annual Science and Engineering Fair on February 12th-19th. This year’s fair was a virtual event where students submitted videos of their presentations shared with judges. Despite MVRHS starting the year remotely students, with science teacher support, entered thirty six projects in the fair, twenty investigative projects and sixteen engineering projects. Twenty-nine judges volunteered from the community and judged projects on elements of scientific investigation and engineering evaluation and design and commented on students’ work. Ten students qualified to compete in the Region 5 Fair March 3rd-5th in hopes of qualifying for the Statewide Fair April 28th – May 5th which. Both the Regional and State fairs will also be held virtually. MVRHS would like to thank the judges, sponsors, and all those that participated in this year’s event.

Honorable Mention Investigative Project: Chloe Combra “Long term investigation of bacterial infection rates in deer ticks (Ixodes scapularis) collected from Chilmark, Martha’s Vineyard, using molecular markers specific for Borrelia, the spirochete causing Lyme disease in humans “

Thank you to Tisbury Waterways, Inc. who through their contribution to the overall award shonors their founder, James Porter, an local African American engineer who designed environmental measures to improve Vineyard water quality.
